Be it for leisure or for business, air travel used to be the norm for many of us, and just 2 years ago we could do so without masks and move around in crowds without hesitation. Though the situation has improved and restrictions are being eased, there are still many considerations for travelers, hence we have seen an uptake of private charters, and one of the most popular jets in Europe is Embraer’s Legacy 650.

Why is private travel picking up in Europe?
On 4 October 2021 the UK government relaxed travel restrictions, coupled with the US relaxation of rules for vaccinated European visitors the demand for air travel has increased significantly. On one hand we have individuals who are eager to travel after not having been able to do so for over 2 years, either for a short break or holiday. On the other hand we have business travelers who have been waiting impatiently for in-person meetings.
While many have tried to adapt and make the most out of our online situation, it is undeniable that human connections are best formed in person. A more tangible relationship could make or break a business deal, and many businessmen are eager to secure deals in person again.
Company reasons for traveling
Many senior executives and entrepreneurs in sectors such as finance and technology, are booking multiple itineraries to see investment targets, or make site visits. Business destinations such as Paris, Zurich, Munich, and Amsterdam had climbed back into the top 10 list of European destinations, which were previously dominated by holiday hotspots.
But of course, travel cannot be treated with the same callousness as pre-pandemic times. Crowded terminals and commercial cabins are not just cramped but also dangerous, there are significantly more safety and health concerns. Hence, the uptake in private travel, from departure to arrival, the entire journey is more exclusive and commodious.
Why is the Legacy 650 a popular choice?
The Legacy 650 is known to be a versatile, cost-effective performer, it is well known to operators that nothing comes close in terms of “value for money.” The Legacy 650 is the only business jet priced under $35 million with three seating zones, an optional forward crew lav and transatlantic range. More practical than posh, but that makes it a great choice for businessmen and travelers that aim to travel in comfort and safety, but remain cost effective.
Compared to its predecessor the Legacy 600, the Legacy 650 is an upgrade. It features upgraded avionics and new powerful Rolls-Royce engines which make it more fuel efficient, less expensive to operate, and extend its range. Many operators decided to go through with the upgrade because of the additional range, the extra fuel transforms it from a transcontinental airplane into a transatlantic jet, making it suitable for basic business transportation.
Additionally, the Legacy 650 has a three-cabin design that gives passengers ultimate privacy and moving space, it is also equipped with the largest-in-class walk-in baggage compartment. This makes the transportation of business documents easier, and also makes it convenient for business meetings to be carried out on board. (insert image of baggage compartment)
At a reasonable operating cost, the Legacy 650 is the ultimate choice for short to mid haul business jet traveling, and perfect for travel within Europe. In 2021, APERTUS has chartered more than 150 hours worth of private flights on board a Legacy 650, all of which were regional flights, either within the US or Europe.
