《 Sleep No More, Shanghai》adapted and interpreted from the Shakespeare classic Macbeth and incorporate Chinese elements from the classical 《 The Legend of the White Snake》, performing the story today in this mysterious building that is built in the 1930s. Inside this 6 story tall building with more than 90 rooms and nearly 6,000 square meters of space, the scene is uniquely presented without a stage. Through dance, music, lighting, scenery and even smells, the audience gets to experience a unique sensation like no other theatre could offer.
Audiences will need to wear a white mask when the show starts. they will be shuttle in between this huge theatre setting, following the rhythm of the actors walking through this dream feeling the characters’ sorrow and joy. Audiences will experience the transformation of the story and be immersed in the mingling of love and hatred. Depending on the viewing perspective of the audience, the storyline will correspond differently. The setting is designed to give everyone unique experiences.
